Architecture is visionary.
JCRA shares your passion…

01 / Vision

Looking forward.

Architecture is a long game with immediate needs.

02 / Community Connections

JCRA is connected to the community.

A rising tide raises all boats.

From inception to completion, JC ROBBINS ARCHITECTURE is able to work with you and your team to achieve your vision.

I’m not the biggest firm with the deepest roster,
but I try harder — just like I know you do.

Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, JC ROBBINS ARCHITECTURE is the only firm with a former IATSE journeyperson stagehand and member of the International Organisation of Scenographers Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT) Architecture Commission as a Principal.

With almost 30 years experience in arts and architecture, you know JC ROBBINS ARCHITECTURE understands your operations better than anyone. There’s a good reason I was asked to lead disjointed teams on multi-million dollar projects. There’s no secret to the success for any project. It always comes down to communication — ensure everyone knows their job and what’s expected and you will win every time.

You are in good hands with a creative and collaborative firm.

JCRA Values

JC ROBBINS ARCHITECTURE follows the rules of improv:

Always say “Yes, and…” never “No, but…”

It’s important to talk about values of a design practice. If our values align, I’d like to work with you. If you don’t think these values are a priority — that’s ok. I’ll be happy to help you find someone else for you to work with that aligns with your values.

01 / Design

Value of good design

JC ROBBINS ARCHITECTURE affirms the importance of good design. In the business of architecture, and the world of construction, design can often be overlooked, or pushed to the side as too expensive. Good design is a result of a clarity of vision achieved through collaboration and dialogue, so everyone understands the goal and implications of decisions.

02 / Collaboration

Value of collaboration

Collaboration occurs through a dialogue between designer & owner, and it continues with the building’s users, the expertise of other design consultants, and constructors. Collaboration is an imperative in good design. A traditional process will have a designer provide the client with 3 or more options. Pick the least bad. A collaborative process brings the client along as a partner and arrives at a single solution that saves everyone time and money.

03 / Dialogue

Value of dialogue

Dialogue is a conversation between two or more characters – an exchange of ideas and opinions. Often, the process of design is a monologue without communication. Great architecture is achieved through early conversation & communication about what your requirements are, and active listening between us reinforcing a clear understanding of how to create your best architecture.

04 / Innovation

Value of innovation

Through our collaboration and dialogue, we can begin to be innovative. Innovation isn’t always about invention. More often it’s about arriving at a really great solution to a design problem or situation. Innovation comes from understanding the requirements of the building, and the needs of its users. Innovation is about action and movement, not objects and stasis. Good architecture provides an entrance. Great architecture provides a way to enter.
